Why Pay Privately for Therapy?

Paying privately for psychotherapy has many benefits for the client including privacy, control, security and expertise.

Psychotherapy for Adolescents, Adults, and Families Specializing in Eating and Mood Disorders

Providing help and support to adolescents, adults, and families struggling with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating has been the primary specialty of my practice for 25 years. I have also worked extensively with individuals suffering with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.  Families coping with elder care and dementia is also an area of interest.

Mood, eating, and cognitive disorders can be devastating illnesses, for both the individual as well as the family that cares for and about them.   Family sessions, in addition to individual appointments, are often used to improve communication and reduce tension at home.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are especially difficult to treat.  General therapists are often unsure about what to do to help. Having specialized in the treatment of disordered eating for many years, I have developed relationships with psychiatrists, physicians, and nutritionists.

As a small solo practice, I do not accept insurance directly, but I will provide you with a receipt with all the information you will need to seek reimbursement on your own.  Check with your insurer to verify your mental health coverage for a full license, out-of-network, clinical psychologist. Many of my patients receive substantial reimbursement from their insurance companies.

Appointments

Appointments are typically 45 minutes long, but longer sessions can be arranged. Regular weekly appointments are usually necessary to accomplish real change. Many people find that coming more often allows them to make deeper and more lasting changes. Appointments are available weekdays and Saturdays. Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel a session.
